1. What are picture books? When can you use them? How? Are there any limitations?
Picture books are book that have illustration some don't have word s but other do and they reflects on what the story is about. They have to be concurrent with each other. We can use picture books before we have journal entries, so that child's mind can start thinking of ideas and remembering events that they have been through to make their writing more smother. Their is always limitation to almost everything, in this case it is good to have the children think up / imagine their own pictures in their mind. They say that in this age in time our children are growing up without out an imagination and don't have the same creativity and appreciation that children that did have an imagination.
2. How do you evaluate or select picture books? What is the process? The most important in choosing a picture book is that the are accurate the pictures should have something doing with the story.
3. Personal views on picture books? Like? dislike? Why?
I like picture books, I like knowing how the character of the book looks like and what a certain animal look like or what is a certain item that the book refers to. What I don't like is that I would prefer to look at the pictures other than reading it.

I agree the most important thing to do before selecting a picture book is make sure the the pictures are accurate and have something to do with the story and also make sure it's appropriate for your students.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you, i some times find myself looking at the pictures as well. But that is ok, after all you tell your own story. Good job. jdc
