Poem to my whole number

My dear whole number,
Amor, we stand side by side in the number line,
without you my life is incomplete
I am a broken integer when we don't calculate,
I am the perfect square when I am by your side,
I cant wait until we have our mathematical miracles,
little three, baby eight and Timmy ten,
I thank our creators, Archimedes, Brahmagupta and Newton,
I have to part my love, war in the front line ain't no matrix,
the roots of our expressions have taken a difference in denominator's,
The metric system is hot on our perimeter,
They have radius our diameter,
I cant wait until I get out of this prism to be by your line,
good bye my love,
Square Root

1. What is international literature? How is it different from multicultural literature ? Why is it important to have in class room?
International literature are books that have been publish and written in another country. These stories have been written in another language and later translated for others to read. International literature is different from multicultural because the stories were written to their people from their people. Most popular stories could be myth, legends, and folktales. These are stories that happen to the people in certain countries and they might relate to them. The multicultural stores are stories that identify a certain culture with detail. To be an authentic multiculturalism the writer should be from the culture or have some creditability of the knowledge of the culture. I would say he had to have spend a sufficient amount of time in the culture to write about it as if he was apart of it.
It is important to have International and Multicultural books in the classroom because not everyone in America is from the same culture. For example: It would be nice to know why Linda prays in silent every time she get up from her chair. We need to teach our children to think out- side the box and show them through literature what other students in the world are doing or thinking. We learn to be better people when we see what others don't have. Our prospectives of life change once we learn to understand that we are all unique. I believe it is very special and important to see others as the self individual that they are.

Briefly discuss the reading and writing process? What? How it connects?
Reading is a process that we can negotiate and interpreted meaning in a creative way. when we read we have some key features of process:
stage 1 Pre reading
stage 2 Reading
stage 3 Responding
stage 4 exploring
stage 5 applying
The writing process :
Drafting
Revision
Editing
Publishing
Reading and writing connect because its a stage of life. We first learn how to listen, speak, read, and then write.

Tell your personal writing experience in relation to writing process?
I don't like writing because I don't like making drafts. I would like to just write a paper one time and save all that time. Unfortunately I know how important it is for us to draft and revise our papers. When I go back to read my writing papers I sometimes don't understand what I was trying to say. I some times think of different ideas that I would like to say and end up adding more views in my papers. I know how important it is to pre read and revise papers but I just need to make more time to do so.

1. Describe how to effectively evaluate books for children. Is this a value based?

To effectively evaluate a book for children we need to first understand how the book is going to effect the child's life. In other words we need to choice a book that we can learn from, age appropriate and meaningful. I would like for the children in the class room to have a range of different books and learn more than one way to solve a problem. Books have so many meaning and different interpretations and sometimes many parents don't understand how or why a school would have certain books in their library's. I respect what the people above me have chosen for our library's but I also understand that I as a future educator have to go back and read the book to see if there isn't anything in the present time that a particular book could have a consequence on. I think that this is a value base. Even thou I respect all the books out there. Some books don't have any value nor respect. Children should be children and we as adults need to help them shares every piece of their childhood and respect the stages of life.

Why do character/setting analysis on children book? Purpose? what did it accomplish?
Character/setting are important in books. Take out the character and setting in any book it becomes difficult to read and understand Children sometimes get in the book they are reading by either putting them self in the charter or by remembering being at a similar setting at one time.

Traditionaly tribes would tell stories around campfires. For many years and in many parts of the world. Story telling is a big part of or life. We learn the cause and effect in why things are done in a certain way. Stories teach faith, hope and wisdom. In Europe children were considered young adults. Also in European oral tration they often lictured on castles and cottages. The French introduced "Cinderella". They story told about "happy ever after", the poorest most humble person always ended up happy at the end. Trying to influnce ones behavior. The first book was published in 1450s by Johannes Gutenberg. William Caxton also opened a printing business but his book where alittle expensive for common people. In the 17th century Charles Perrault published "Tales of mother Goose". He was the first writer to understand that children had a special bond with fairy tales. By the end of the 1740s people realized that children should be children rather than small adults.
As a personal connection literature, has been a part of our past and future way of life. Today in America more specifically in west side of San Antoinio we have writers coming from the Barrios writing the experiance and life style of a regular child from that time. We the people who grew up there at that same time understand the life style and the saddness and troubles from this place. There are many success stories from poor people who have made it big and we all like to belive it could happen to us someday too.
This information applies in in the class room because it helps me understand that we can make a differance in a child life. Opportunities and success dossent just happen to anyone we place the children and push them to be successful and give them the opportunity to be taught in an enviorment were both student and teacher are working to have a better future and life style.

Chapter 4
It is very important as an educator to understand that a child ability to read or write has to do with a childs personal background. If the child parents dont know how to read and write we can't espect for the child to be a great reader or writer. The child will be a slower learner but with the understanding and proper education he/she will learn to read and write. Most literacy is experienced in poor and middle class families. Children first learn to recognize a symbol before the can recognize aword. Sometimes as parents we confuse this and assume they could read. The child learns to write when he/she picks up a color and scribbles on the walls. Thier concept of writing for fun or by sharing thier feeling on pictures. Phonemic awareness in child is one of the best ways that a child learns first. The repeating of songs and rhyms make it easier for them to understand the ability of reading.
In a personal connection this chapter taught me how important my job as a mother is in setting good examples to the children. The most important thing I learn is that it is'nt to late to start incorporating this ideas with them. Education is the steping stone to our children's future and if i could help concrete the first step sorrectly they will have a stronger foundation.
This material applies to the class room in understanding that not all child are have the same dackground in reading and writing and that as an elementary teacher our challenge is to not just teach but to make them understand and incorporate into everyday learning.
