1. What is international literature? How is it different from multicultural literature ? Why is it important to have in class room?
International literature are books that have been publish and written in another country. These stories have been written in another language and later translated for others to read. International literature is different from multicultural because the stories were written to their people from their people. Most popular stories could be myth, legends, and folktales. These are stories that happen to the people in certain countries and they might relate to them. The multicultural stores are stories that identify a certain culture with detail. To be an authentic multiculturalism the writer should be from the culture or have some creditability of the knowledge of the culture. I would say he had to have spend a sufficient amount of time in the culture to write about it as if he was apart of it.
It is important to have International and Multicultural books in the classroom because not everyone in America is from the same culture. For example: It would be nice to know why Linda prays in silent every time she get up from her chair. We need to teach our children to think out- side the box and show them through literature what other students in the world are doing or thinking. We learn to be better people when we see what others don't have. Our prospectives of life change once we learn to understand that we are all unique. I believe it is very special and important to see others as the self individual that they are.
