Talk is the ability to communicate instruction and information to another person.

Talk is benefical in a classroom because speaking outloud and to peers helps comprehend information. We need to talk to also have the right pronunciation of words.I think we need to practice more talking in school to push the students to become more independent and learn how to carry themself.
Students can have discussion during math. There are many rules and sometimes students remember some better than others. The student could then check or ask her group by engagging conversation and with practice be successful in math. Debates in Social studies is another way to incorporate talk. For example ask if they ageree with battles and segregation. Ask how they feel about what people during these eras had to go through. Talking is very easly to engage yet its going to be hard for me to try to keep them with the topic. First we need to insure that there is no right or wrong answer. Second make them feel comfortable and third encourage them by having them talk alittle about themselves to get confidence. Speaking in a known environment is much better then speaking in a strange completely dark environment.

  1. I thought that last statement of your blog was awesome! It is soooo true that speaking in a know environment is much better than speaking in strange territory. Speaking with people who are familiar and in a familiar territory is what will make students open up and share what they have to say. Great Job!!!

  2. I agree with your statement about helping the student gain confidence by having them speak about themselves. If we can build a student's confidence and create a known environment in lieu of an unknown territory, this would promote a more proactive classroom. Wonderfully stated Claudia!
